Spain - Barcelona |
|
Barcelona - April 2002
Sagrada Família |
|
Barcelona's most famous landmark is Antoni Gaudí's unfinished
masterpiece, I recommend taking the lift up for the views over
Barcelona. |
Casa Milà - La Perdrera |
|
|
Another of Gaudí's famous buildings is this
apartment block, with it's wild shapes, and mad rooftop terrace
it's a great place to spend some time. |
Cathedral |
Cable Car |
|
The ride across the harbour is an excellent way to get a good
view over the port, marina and the city.
|
Parc Güell |
|
Out from the centre of town towards the leafy suburbs, Gaudí's
Parc Güell sits on the top of it's hill. Ensure you take the time
to stroll around to seek out all of it's hidden delights. |
Casa Battló |
Monestir Pedralbes |
Barri Gòtic |
The roof of this Gaudí house is supposed to be like the back of a
dragon, St. George is the patron of Catalunya. |
This monastery, with it's excellent cloisters, is a welcome
break from the noise of the modern city.
|
We stayed in an apartment in the Barri Gòtic, right in the heart
of the old town. |
Placa d'Espánya & Font Magica |
|
At the Placa d'Espánya opposite the Bull Ring, walk past the
imposing twin towers, and up the hill where you will find the
Fountain, which dances to music in the evenings. |
|
Poble Espanyol |
Spanish Grand Prix |
Wandering round this re-creation of different Spanish styles built
as a village, is a good way to spend an afternoon. |
One of our reasons for visiting Barcelona was to
see the 2002 Spanish Grand Prix. |
