Northumbria
I was born in Newbiggin by the Sea, Northumberland, and I
am very proud of my Northumbrian roots. We moved to Hertfordshire when I was about ten
years old, but as many of the family, including my Grandparents, still lived in the North
East we went back often to visit them.
I'm now doing some family history research, and apart from my paternal Great
Grandparents, who came from the south coast of England, all my ancestry seems to be in
Newbiggin or the little villages nearby. Most of my ancestors came from the fishing
industry, which in the past was a major part of Newbiggin life. Perhaps that's why I love
to be by the sea - I like to walk along the prom and on the moor whenever I go back to
Newbiggin - there's nothing like the North Sea air to blow those cobwebs away!
My Northumbria page contains photos of some of my most favourite places, in
Northumberland, like Warkworth, and some other places in the North East that I've visited
in the last few years.
