While not strictly castles, the Martello Towers that are dotted around
Guernsey are worth mentioning. These defensive towers were built in the 1780's and some of
them are open to visitors. The one shown in the photograph is Rousse Tower on the
headland at Grand Havre.
Also on Guernsey is Castle Cornet, which for some reason we totally failed to visit -
not like us at all! |
