Ferrari 308 - On Track 2002
Castle Combe
The First Track Day of 2002 was organised by Mike
& Graham Reeder, it was not a Ferrari only day, with TVRs,

... but since Mike & Graham race Ferraris most
of the cars out were Ferraris.
Surprisingly, for my track days, it stayed clear all day.

Donington Park for the Very Fast Show wasn't a
track day, but a day to take the Ferrari along and watch some
serious racing. As it was the end of the season we had the
decider of the British Touring Cars, and the GT championship
too. |
The Ferrari Owners Club organised a display stand
in the circuit infield near McLeans corner, and we went along on
this glorious sunny day and joined the other approx 30 Ferraris
there.
It was a fantastic day, and I practised some high speed
motor-racing shots (below) with my Canon
G2 digital camera. Reasonably successful - I think.

Silverstone again for the last track day of the
year.
Kathy came along, but wasn't feeling up to the ride, so I
took a passenger (a perk for volunteers who help on the
day). Not for very long though, as half way through a
session I see |

plumes of blue smoke in the mirror. Oh-oh.
Well after a very slow lap into the pits for an inspection, I
couldn't see anything wrong, and it still sounded OK, so a quick
look from a mechanic from the supporting dealership, and it
turns out that a seal has worn a little, and allowed the
pressure of the engine at full chat to push the dipstick out of
it's housing. Push it back in, add a little strap to stop
it happening again and problem solved. Back on track. |
