Annie "Unknown", (possibly Armstrong)
I have been unable as yet to find out more information about
Annie, other than that which is on my Grandfather's birth certificate, and is
mentioned above.
"Ann" is hardly an unusual name, and in Newbiggin "Armstrong" is as
rare as "Smith" - which all makes her very hard to trace!
It is thought that she was born in about 1862 and that she died in around 1903.

William John Armstrong and Annie
"Unknown" (possibly Armstrong)
|
My Grandfather Robert "Bobby" Armstrong's
parents were William and Annie.
I think that Annie and William would have been married sometime around
1890, finding a record isn't made any easier by their "less than
unusual" names! My Grandfather, Robert,
was their fifth child and his birth certificate gives Annie's name as "Armstrong,
formerly Armstrong", but it's possible that she had been widowed by this time and
that her maiden name was something else.
Their first two children,
Isabella (1892 - 1893) and Margaret (1893 - 1894) didn't survive infancy.
Next came Jane Ann (b.1896), who married James "Jimmy" Taylor and had three sons: James, Ben and
William.
Their fourth child, and first son was William John (1897 - 1941).
He married Margaret Lockey, and had four children; Ethel, William
John, Mary Ann and Florence.
Fifth was my Grandfather, Robert (1900 - 1974). who married Mary Alice Armstrong and
had two daughters, Grace and Jean.
