Ephesus
Ephesus is the major site in Turkey, and it does not
disappoint (though you may find the masses of tour bus loads of
people a little off putting). You can almost feel the
history of the place, as you walk along the marble streets, and
see the ruts made by numerous chariot wheels centuries ago. |

The wonderful theatre seats 20,000 and provides stunning views
from the top. |

The Library of Celsus is one of the most impressive monuments
at Ephesus. It held 12,000 scrolls in galleries protected
against dampness, this was no help when the library was burned by
the Goths in 262AD. |

Selçuk
Selçuk is the home of the archaeological museum
where can be found some of the Ephesus finds, including the statue
of Cybele. Also in Selçuk is the Basilica of John the
Evangelist, and the remains of the Artemision, which was one
of the seven ancient wonders of the world. |
